Amsterdam exhibit showcases 3D and UV printing art, exploring tech’s role in creativity
Digital G-O-D is an art exhibition that was held in Amsterdam on June 20 to June 29, 2025. The exhibition was supported by printing innovator Mimaki brought together a wide range of artist focusing on technology and creativity. This event took place in a former courthouse turned art space in the city center that was being hosted by the collective METAMO.
Digital G-O-D highlighted advanced printing technology to create both the artwork and contributing to its story narrative. The exhibition included 27 2D pieces created with computerized planning, UV printing and sublimation, as well as 30 elegant 3D printed sculptures.
Many of these creations, which prove how industrial tools can be utilized in daring, creative ways, were made with Mimaki's top-tier equipment, such as the JFX200 UV flatbed printer and the full-color 3DUJ-553 3D printer. Artists produced surfaces that shimmered, distorted light and experimented with depth by printing on a variety of materials, including holographic film and acrylic.
In several of the 3D pieces, the concept was created by urban artists and then transformed into digital models by Taketo Kobayashi, co-founder of METAMO and the artist known as humanoise. The procedure primarily established how creativity functions in the modern world that involves a combination of humans, machines and teamwork.
Digital G-O-D addressed the concerns associated with technology in addition to showcasing its capabilities. Overall, though the message was upbeat: perhaps the best course of action is to cooperate and try new things. Even while 3D printed sculptures and AI art won't appeal to everyone, the issues they bring up are still important.
The second iteration of the Amsterdam Digital G-O-D exhibit debuted in 2020 at Singapore's UltraSuperNew Gallery. METAMO doesn't appear to be slowing down, though. The organization, which consists of seasoned professionals from the immersive media, audio, and film sectors, views itself as a worldwide creative platform that is not restricted to any one city or medium.
