Along with the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, the eagerly anticipated action game Blades of Fire will make its official PC release on May 22, 2025, via Steam and the Epic Games Store. However, for players who are eager to experience the game before its official release, developer MercurySteam and publisher 505 Games have revealed that a demo will soon be released on all platforms.

While the demo date has not been officially announced, it is coming in before the official release to generate buzz and allow players to get an idea of what they can look forward to. The news was posted in a short video on X, where the studio highlighted fans' requests to play the game before buying the full game.

Blades of Fire is a story-driven fantasy action RPG that specializes in weapon-based combat. It is unlike the majority of action RPGs in that it compels players to rely on their skills and knowledge of the weapons rather than stat boosts or endgame gear. What this means is that players must master the weapons and combat mechanics in order to progress, even in the late game.

The game was initially announced early this year and soon made waves during the Game Developers Conference (GDC). Following playing time with the game, Wccftech's Kai Tatsumoto complimented its novel emphasis on creating and re-creating weapons, which brings something new to the action-adventure genre. Although the narrative itself will be full of familiar fantasy clichés, the gameplay and weapon development system have drawn much attention from many players. With the demo looming near, Blades of Fire is looking to be one of the top titles of 2025.
