Fashion’s Biggest Night Returns, Spotlighting Black Tailoring at the Met

Fashion meets culture as the Met Gala 2025 celebrates Black style and tailored menswear excellence.

As the 2025 Met Gala comes closer, fashion enthusiasts are preparing for what looks to be yet another amazing evening of creativity, culture, and fashion. The gala theme for this year's first Monday in May, which is set for May 5th, 2025 is "Tailored for you," celebrating the classic craft of tailoring with a focus on Black fashion.

The dress code celebrates decades of Black fashion through the prism of dandyism and traditional menswear, in keeping with the Costume Institute's spring show at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style. This is the first time the Met has solely included Black designers in its display and it's only the second time in over two decades that menswear.

The red carpet will once again serve as a runway for interpretations that push the envelope. Expect celebrities to reinvent what it means to wear with flair and accuracy from elegant suits to new tailoring. The event will be co-chaired by Lewis Hamilton, Pharrell Williams, Colman Domingo, A$AP Rocky, and Anna Wintour of Vogue. The honorary chair will be NBA legend LeBron James.

A star-studded host committee with stylish individuals like Janelle Monáe, Usher, André 3000, Dapper Dan, Olivier Rousteing and Edward Enninful is on the guest list which is still under wraps. Each will arrive at the famous Met steps in their own unique style. The event which brought in over $26 million last year, serves as a significant fundraiser for the museum's Costume Institute with tables costing $350,000. It's all about high-concept ensembles, even though the dress code is interpreted lightly.
