Oracle Launches Exadata Exascale on Azure, Expanding Multicloud Capabilities

New Exascale deployment cuts costs, boosts performance, and enhances Oracle-Microsoft cloud integration.

Oracle has made Oracle Exadata Database Service on Exascale Infrastructure available in general form on Oracle Database@Azure. The new Exascale deployment option allows customers to use Oracle's high-performance database services without having to provision dedicated database and storage servers, reducing minimum infrastructure costs by up to 95%.

Also, Oracle announced that Oracle Base Database Service on Oracle Database@Azure will be available shortly, giving customers a convenient, pay-as-you-go approach to operating Oracle Database workloads in virtual machines.

To address growing global demand, Oracle Database@Azure is now offered in the Microsoft Azure East U.S. 2 region, taking the total number of available regions to 14, and will expand to 18 additional regions over the next year. Oracle also said that its Exadata Database Service on Dedicated Infrastructure now supports the new Exadata X11M platform.

Vodafone CIO Pedro Sardo pointed to the benefits of these innovations, stating, "The ability to keep on running Oracle Base Database Service alongside Exadata Database Service on Dedicated Infrastructure on Oracle Database@Azure supports application continuity, simplifies migration, and maximizes cloud investment."

Oracle's SVP Karan Batta also emphasized Exascale Infrastructure's part in bringing Exadata's superior capabilities into a hyper-elastic, multi-tenant cloud. Microsoft's Brett Tanzer stated that Oracle's expanded database services provide customers with more flexibility to connect with Microsoft's AI, analytics, and security solutions.

Oracle Exadata Database Service on Exascale Infrastructure is now available on Azure Marketplace with AI-powered pay-as-you-go infrastructure, AI-powered analytics, and enhanced OLTP performance. Through current Azure commitments, Oracle license value, and discount schemes, customers can buy it privately or pay as they go.
