Paralympics Australia appoints Simon Rabbitt as Chief Operating Officer to drive growth and success.
Paralympics Australia has announced that Simon Rabbitt will take up the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO) on 6 January 2025. For over 25 years, Simon has held a variety of senior leadership roles across sports, major events, media, and global interactive games.
His last role was as Chief Financial and Operating Officer at Mighty Kingdom, where he successfully developed and implemented business and financial strategies. Prior to this, Rabbitt led several roles including Rugby Australia, FremantleMedia, and the FIBA Women's World Cup 2022, among others. His background indicates a proven record of delivering results across multiple sectors, with specific experience in the sports and media industries.
Cameron Murray, CEO of Paralympics Australia, expressed confidence in Rabbitt's appointment: "Simon's strategic, commercial, and financial expertise will be invaluable as we work toward the most successful era of Paralympic sport in Australia's history. His leadership and ability to achieve results are exactly what we need to grow the Paralympic Movement."
Said Rabbitt: "I'm really excited to join Paralympics Australia and work alongside the team to continue improving its performances. Seeing the Australian Paralympic Team compete in Paris has been inspiring, and I look forward to contributing as we set our sights toward Brisbane 2032.
He also stressed the need for partnership: "I believe in building strong partnerships with staff and stakeholders. Together, we can translate strategy into action and achieve sustainable success for the Paralympic Movement."
As COO, Rabbitt will concentrate on ensuring long-term success for Paralympics Australia, advancing inclusion, and supporting athletes with disabilities. His leadership will be pivotal as the organization gears up for the exciting opportunities presented by Brisbane 2032.
