Cheil South West Asia (SWA) appoints Kumar Awanish as the new group Chief Operating Officer, which is a major step in the company’s AI-first advertising strategy. Headquartered in Gurugram, Awanish the company will oversee the transformation of the operational strategy. In the new role, Awanish will report directly to President and CEO Sungkyoon Kim, as Cheil SWA strengthens its commitment to technology-based growth and integrated marketing solutions for clients.
In his new capacity, Awanish will spearhead the company’s operational strategy to bring operational efficiencies and take Cheil SWA into an AI-driven operational ecosystem. As Chief Growth Officer, he led a team of over 100 specialists, building direct-to-consumer and commerce offerings while improving the company’s media operations. The company stated that this appointment is a reflection of its commitment to delivering integrated marketing solutions through the power of data, creativity, and technology to drive business results for clients across various industries.
Sungkyoon Kim stated, “Cheil SWA is embarking on a new chapter of advertising evolution in the AI era. Kumar Awanish’s experience in digital ecosystem leadership and operations will play a critical role in navigating the company through this exciting period.” Awanish, who has more than 20 years of experience in advertising, marketing, and digital ecosystems, has also handled major leadership positions at Airtel, Snapdeal, Times Internet, GroupM, and Oppo. His appointment is a result of the overall industry change towards creative transformation in the technology era, with a focus on AI adoption and collaboration across functions to achieve a scalable growth model.
