ING appoints Debbie Janeczek as Chief Information Security Officer to strengthen cybersecurity and safeguard customer trust.
ING has announced Debbie Janeczek to be its newest Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), effective 13 January 2025. Before that, Debbie Janeczek held the position of Chief Security Officer at SWIFT, the global messaging network used by banks for cross-border transactions. Debbie comes with a solid background in both cybersecurity and leading roles at various top financial services, technology firms, and governmental organizations, which makes her aptly suited for a role as the CISO at ING.
In the new role, Janeczek will enhance the bank's security infrastructure and work to shield its digital ecosystem. Her main responsibility will be to focus on keeping the systems of the bank secure so that ING continues to stay relevant in terms of clients' trust. As a former professional with a track record of developing and executing security strategies, Janeczek is the kind of person who can handle the security operations for ING by controlling all cyber threats that have been evolving in financial sectors.
Janeczek will report directly to Daniele Tonella, global Chief Technology Officer and member of the Management Board Banking. She takes over from Henrik van Bruggen, who was serving as global CISO on an interim basis and retained his duties as global head of Tech Strategy & Enterprise Architecture. Van Bruggen has been pivotal in leading the organization to a more secure state through ING's cybersecurity during this period.
I am very excited to join ING and contribute to its purpose of delivering secure and reliable banking services for clients all over the world," Janeczek said. "Exciting, but still a great challenge for me to support ING in its security strategy further." Years of experience under his belt, Janeczek will be the bedrock of ING's commitment to best practice cybersecurity.
