Kim Kardashian shares excitement over Tesla's Optimus robot and driverless Cybercab in Instagram videos
Kim Kardashian is finding herself more and more interested in the innovations with robotics and self-driving cars, and she shared her enthusiasm about it with her followers on Instagram. In a series of videos published to her Instagram Story, the reality television personality and entrepreneur showed fans aspects of the high-tech innovation at Tesla, of which included the newly publicized Tesla Cybercab and the Optimus AI robot.
In Kardashian's video, she was seen playing with Optimus, a human-sized AI robot developed by Tesla's founder Elon Musk. The robot, which according to Musk could one day "babysit your kids" or complete any general household task, performed rock-paper-scissors, waved, ran, and even danced to a hula. However, unclear in the videos as to whether Optimus is operating independently or if a handler is off-screen controlling the movements. However, the test of the robot operating was still a source of thrilling and motivated many fans to peek into the future of personal robots.
On top of Optimus, Kardashian also presented her followers with the Tesla Cybercab, which is an autonomous electric car that has no use for steering wheels and pedals. The Cybercab was part of Tesla's project on the robotic taxi, which sparked Kardashians' interest as she was amazed at the car's performance without a driver. "The Cybercab is insane. It kind of looks like the rims on my silver Cybertruck," she commented, referencing her own custom Tesla truck. She asked, "So you just get in and there's no driver?" to which an off-screen voice confirmed, "There's no driver."
Tesla has been testing its robotaxi service with employees in San Francisco, but much remains to be done. When it will be ready, Musk assured that the robotaxi, when released, will be affordable and priced at around $30,000. No timeline has been set, however, as to when this will come to the public. As the robotic basics of autonomous vehicles and AI-powered robots continue to evolve, so does the future of both become increasingly closer to reality.
