SAP Launches UK Sovereign Cloud for Secure Data Solutions

SAP launches UK Sovereign Cloud with €1/4 billion investment, ensuring secure, compliant solutions

SAP SE (NYSE: SAP) officially launched its sovereign cloud capabilities in the UK-the culmination of a major achievement for the company in the safe and localized provision of cloud solutions to the most regulated industries, public sector organizations, and critical national infrastructure. The move follows the first €1/4 billion investment by SAP in the UK, which serves to nourish innovation and digital transformation across the country.

SAP sovereign cloud ensures the strongest data residency, security, and compliance standards will be delivered so that UK businesses and governments fully trust storing and managing sensitive data. The offering is fully aligned with the UK's Data Protection Act 2018, National Cyber Security Centre security principles, and cyber essentials plus standards, which makes it suitable for Aerospace and Defence, Central Government, Ministry of Defence, and Energy.

As demand for sovereign cloud services has grown, SAP has reaffirmed its commitment to data sovereignty through the dedicated organization called Sovereign Services & Delivery. This new subsidiary started on October 1, 2024, and tends to bring together all of the company's experience with sovereign cloud operations while controlling the global business of sovereign clouds within the firm.

The UK launch of our sovereign cloud capabilities is a significant step in supporting government and business customers to innovate and transform securely in the cloud.

The Sovereign Cloud will include SAP S/4HANA Private Cloud Edition, SAP SuccessFactors, SAP BTP, SAP Analytics Cloud, and solutions for digital supply chain as part of the initial offerings. More services will be added in the future as the intentions are to further enhance UK organizations in pursuing their strategic goals.

Leila Romane, Managing Director of SAP UK & Ireland, emphasized that SAP’s UK Sovereign Cloud ensures the highest levels of data security and compliance, supporting both businesses and public sector bodies in their digital transformation efforts.
