Investment aims to enhance cybersecurity resilience for businesses across the region.
Cisco is building a new Point of Presence (PoP) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to support cloud-based security, yet again enhancing the cybersecurity landscape for local organizations. Slated to be available by the end of 2024, this PoP will be used as part of the Secure Service Edge solution from Cisco and will provide access through a multitude of ISPs.
Abdelilah Nejjari, Cisco's managing director for the Gulf, believes such a move will give organizations advanced cybersecurity capabilities because business should implement various security solutions on one platform, which makes the infrastructure of cybersecurity sleek.
The PoP will offer agile, high-capacity secure access and a seamless way for users to reach Internet resources, Software-as-a-Service applications, and private networks. It is a strategic step, one such as this, to be taken in accordance with Cisco's plans for building an effective cybersecurity framework in the region.
As can be seen on the Cisco Cybersecurity Readiness Index, most UAE organizations are still at formative stages when it comes to cybersecurity readiness, meaning that there is great need for security enhancement. With 73% of businesses expecting a cybersecurity incident in the next two years, the introduction of the Cisco PoP becomes a pretty bold move to cover these vulnerabilities.
