Ukrainian defense-tech startup Rcam has received $25,000 in funding from Brave1, a government-backed platform designed to support innovative companies contributing to Ukraine's defense. The funds will accelerate the development of Rcam’s tactical-level surveillance camera, a cutting-edge device engineered for battlefield monitoring.
Rcam's camera system is designed to be nearly invisible to the enemy while providing critical intelligence under harsh conditions, including artillery fire and FPV drone attacks. The camera, which integrates optics and thermal imaging, detects and tracks target movements up to a distance of 1 kilometer, or 500 meters when AI-enhanced. This advanced system includes a camera, processor, tablet, and battery, all optimized for extreme durability and efficiency. One of the standout features of Rcam’s technology is its AI-driven monitoring system, which autonomously tracks enemy movements and transmits critical data, such as target locations and classifications, to higher command. This automation facilitates rapid decision-making in the field, minimizing the need for operator intervention.
The processor unit, strategically hidden underground, is designed to withstand extreme temperatures and environmental conditions. Additionally, the camera can endure temperatures up to 70 degrees Celsius, heavy rainfall, and drops from heights of up to 3 meters. If damaged, the camera can be replaced in just 30 seconds, ensuring minimal downtime. Launched in 2023, Brave1 serves as a crucial platform for fostering innovation in defense technology, aligning with Ukraine's ongoing efforts to enhance its military capabilities.
