McLaren Health Care, a prominent healthcare provider in Mid-Michigan, has encountered a major disruption in its information technology systems this week, leading to operational slowdowns across its facilities. The organization has yet to reveal the extent of the issue, the cause, or whether any personal health information has been compromised. Additionally, a timeline for the restoration of technical systems has not been provided.
Despite the IT challenges, all McLaren facilities remain open to patients. However, as a precautionary measure, some nonemergency and elective procedures may be rescheduled. "Our team will work diligently with any patient who has an appointment rescheduled," McLaren assured in a statement.
Due to the difficulty in accessing medical records, McLaren is asking patients to bring extra documentation to their appointments. This includes a list of current medications or empty prescription bottles, printed physician orders for imaging studies or treatments, and printed results of recent lab tests, which can be accessed via the McLaren patient portal.
McLaren has requested patience from patients while caregivers and support teams strive to maintain care standards amid the technical difficulties. "We understand this situation may be frustrating to our patients - and to our team members - and we deeply and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause," the organization stated.
