UK IT services market shows rising AI-driven growth as enterprise AI adoption accelerates, with channel partners shifting toward AI services despite skills shortages and early-stage business transformation.
|
The growth dynamics of the UK IT services market is set to witness a major paradigm shift with enterprise AI adoption becoming the leading growth catalyst for channel partners, says the recent report by State of the Channel 2026. Though the adoption of AI services is becoming the key revenue generator for providers, most of them have not yet progressed much in embedding AI into their overall business operations.
According to the State of the Channel 2026 report, the UK IT services market is now witnessing an "AI inflection point," which refers to the transition stage for the providers from experimenting to realizing revenues from AI. Even though there is a surge in demand for AI services, the majority of providers are still dependent on traditional infrastructure and managed services.
Enterprise AI Adoption Reshapes UK IT Services Market Growth
The increasing trend of enterprise AI adoption will change the face of how IT service providers derive revenues in the UK. About 35 percent of service providers today derive their revenues from AI-related services ranging between 11 percent and 25 percent, and less than one-fifth generates more than 50 percent of their revenues from AI-based solutions.
Among UK IT services suppliers, 42% anticipate AI services as being the category of choice for growth in the coming two years, followed closely by cybersecurity services. There is significant investment going into building expertise in AI services, along with vendor partnerships and innovative models.
However the adoption of enterprise AI strategies among companies does not fully reflect such expectations, as only 30% claim that they are truly “AI-driven.”
Skills Shortages Challenge Enterprise AI Adoption in UK IT Market
Although there are many growth opportunities ahead of the UK IT services market due to expected AI adoption, there are some considerable obstacles. Workforce deficiency, changes in skill set needs, and lack of expertise are seen as the main hurdles to enterprise AI implementation.
More than one-third of providers cite talent gaps as their primary constraint, highlighting the need for upskilling and restructuring to fully capitalize on AI-driven opportunities.
