Deutsche Telekom Expands Global IoT Connectivity with Bridge Alliance Partnership

The partnership provides global companies with seamless access to APAC markets, simplifying the management of IoT connections through a unified platform

Deutsche Telekom is advancing its global IoT (Internet of Things) ambitions by joining the Bridge Alliance, a collaboration of 35 mobile operators across Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Africa, and now Europe. As the first European telecom company in the alliance, Deutsche Telekom aims to enhance its IoT connectivity offerings, particularly between Europe and the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.

This strategic move aligns with Deutsche Telekom IoT GmbH's broader goal of international expansion. The partnership provides global companies with seamless access to APAC markets, simplifying the management of IoT connections through a unified platform—the T IoT Hub. This hub offers a streamlined solution for global IoT connectivity, eliminating the need for multiple local operator agreements. Dennis Nikles, managing director of Deutsche Telekom IoT, highlighted the importance of this partnership, stating that it strengthens their global offering by pooling the expertise of all alliance members. This collaboration is particularly beneficial for the growing market of Asian electric vehicles in Europe, as well as European companies expanding into Asia. The Bridge Alliance partnership also ensures compliance with local regulations, addressing challenges such as permanent roaming restrictions and data residency laws.

Deutsche Telekom’s strategy of combining terrestrial and satellite IoT connectivity, supported by roaming agreements with over 600 partners, underscores its commitment to providing robust global IoT solutions. This partnership marks a significant step in Deutsche Telekom’s journey to becoming a leading global IoT connectivity provider, offering one contract, one management team, and a standardized service for international IoT operations.
