Strategic Partnerships Set Stage for Increased Demand in Smart Tower Services
China Tower, a leading player in telecom infrastructure, has secured multi-year agreements with China Telecom and China Unicom to enhance its Internet of Things (IoT) monitoring and data analysis capabilities. This move is aimed at addressing the anticipated surge in demand for IoT services within its "Smart Tower" business segment.
In a recent Hong Kong Exchange filing, China Tower disclosed that it has entered into separate framework agreements with both telecom giants. These agreements involve leasing critical resources, including transmission and cloud services, telecom equipment, and cloud infrastructure. These frameworks are set to bolster China Tower’s ability to handle the increasing need for data transmission and analysis from IoT devices like video cameras, weather sensors, and radars.
The "Smart Tower" segment of China Tower, part of its "Two Wings" business, focuses on deploying advanced digital towers equipped with IoT technology. These towers support government agencies in monitoring essential areas such as water resources, transportation, and environmental protection. The second "wing" encompasses the company's energy sector, offering battery exchanges and power backup services.
China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology reported that 5G base stations now total 3.92 million, underscoring the growth in telecom infrastructure. China Tower, established in 2014, continues to play a pivotal role in consolidating telecom assets and advancing the industry’s infrastructure development.
