Landmark Agreement Paves the Way for Long-Term Development in Western Australia’s Pilbara Region
Alien Metals has reached a pivotal moment in the development of its Hancock iron ore project, securing a 21-year mining lease in Western Australia’s central Pilbara region. The lease, officially designated as M47/1633, was granted by the Western Australian Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety, ensuring Alien Metals’ rights to the land until April 17, 2045.
This achievement marks a critical step forward for Alien Metals, following a series of key milestones, including the execution of Heritage Agreements with the Karlka Nyiyaparli Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC. These agreements underscore the company’s commitment to responsible development in collaboration with local communities.
In addition to the mining lease, Alien Metals has been granted a miscellaneous licence, which permits the construction of essential infrastructure for site access. This development is contingent on a final investment decision, signaling further progress toward full-scale operations.
Strengthening its position, Alien Metals has also signed a conditional, non-binding memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Pilbara Ports for access to the Utah Bulk Handling Facility in Port Hedland. This MOU represents a strategic move to secure export capabilities, ensuring efficient shipment of iron ore from the Hancock project.
With these agreements in place, Alien Metals is well-positioned to advance the Hancock project, solidifying its presence in one of the world’s most resource-rich regions.
