Kendrick Lamar Drops ‘Not Like Us’

The Rapper Turns a Drake Diss Track into a Star-Studded Visual

Kendrick Lamar has released the music video for his Drake diss track, “Not Like Us,” making it a family affair and featuring some notable cameos. Dropped on July 4, the video showcases Lamar’s fiancée, Whitney Alford, and their two young children, adding a personal touch to the prolific rapper’s latest visual creation.

The video, co-directed by Lamar and Dave Free, also includes appearances from several celebrities connected to the West Coast, which holds a special place in Lamar’s heart as a Compton native. Among the stars are NBA player DeMar DeRozan, also from Compton, and Tommy the Clown, famed for inventing the krumping dance style.

In a playful nod to his ongoing feud with Drake, the video features multiple visual references to the Canadian rapper’s career, including owls representing Drake’s OVO label. Fans of the fast-paced rap battle between the former collaborators have been eagerly awaiting this release. “Not Like Us,” which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in May, has quickly become a standout track in the heated exchange.

“Not Like Us” has already been hailed as the “song of the summer” by many. Lamar’s electrifying performance of the track five times at “The Pop Out: Ken & Friends” Juneteenth concert, livestreamed on Twitch by Amazon Music, only solidified its impact. With this release, Kendrick Lamar continues to assert his dominance in the rap game while keeping his family close and his fans engaged.
