John Cena to Retire from Wrestling

WWE Icon Announces Farewell Tour, Promises to Stay Involved with the Sport

John Cena, the renowned professional wrestler and actor, announced on Saturday night that he will retire from professional wrestling after the 2025 season, marking the end of a two-decade-long career in the ring.

Speaking to a packed stadium of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) fans in Toronto, Cena delivered an emotional speech. Despite the crowd’s audible disappointment, he shared his plans for a farewell tour with numerous dates and an epic final match. He reassured fans that his departure from the ring does not mean he will distance himself from the sport that made him a household name.

"Thank you so much for letting me play in the house that you built for so many years," Cena expressed to the audience, his voice filled with gratitude.

In a subsequent news conference, Cena candidly spoke about his physical condition, acknowledging that he feels "at my end." However, he emphasized his ongoing commitment to the wrestling franchise that launched his illustrious career.

Cena, a 16-time WWE champion, first gained fame in the early 2000s as the “Doctor of Thuganomics.” His rapper persona, complete with gold chains and a backwards hat, captivated audiences as he challenged opponents to rap battles. Over the years, Cena has portrayed various popular characters, both in the ring and on the silver screen.

Beyond wrestling, Cena has enjoyed a successful acting career, starring in films such as “Blockers” and “The Suicide Squad.” He has also made multiple appearances in the “Fast & Furious” franchise and recently featured in the comedy thriller “Argylle” and the box office hit “Barbie.”
