This effort underscores ICAI’s dedication to preparing CAs for an evolving environment where AI enhances rather than replaces human knowledge
With the aim of integrating technology in professional education, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has introduced the Chartered Accountant Generative Pre-Trained Transformer (CA GPT). Celebrating its Diamond Jubilee, ICAI unveiled this new AI-powered tool designed to enhance learning and practice in accounting.
Developed in conjunction with OpenAI, CA GPT is a protected Generative AI framework that utilizes decades of institutional expertise. It provides human-like answers to challenging questions based on data from ICAI’s 75-year heritage. This tool is intended to change how aspiring CAs and experienced professionals engage with pedagogical content and practical challenges. Dayaniwas Sharma, a key member of ICAI’s Central Council, remarked that the CA GPT is extensively trained with their rich archives to ensure that it can provide comprehensive answers in various areas of accounting and finance. ICAI has also introduced a certification program to endow its members with sufficient knowledge to use CA GPT and other AI tools effectively. However, ICAI remains vigilant by restricting CA GPT during exams to maintain academic integrity while encouraging technology integration. In the future, ICAI also plans to encourage innovation through hackathons and other initiatives and partnerships to develop AI audit tools. This effort underscores ICAI’s dedication to preparing CAs for an evolving environment where AI enhances rather than replaces human knowledge.
The launch of CA GPT is a significant step forward in the adoption of AI in professional education, placing ICAI at the forefront of global trends in accounting practices.
