Data Honor AI Privacy Power

Zhao highlighted the challenges of balancing AI power with energy efficiency and data privacy

In a recent interview, Honor CEO George Zhao emphasized the significance of protecting user data for meaningful use of artificial intelligence (AI). Zhao emphasized that, while AI has transformative potential, its effectiveness lies in protecting personal information.

He remarked this as Honor unveiled new AI tools at the Mobile World Congress in Shanghai. The new features include technology for detecting deep fake videos and simulating lenses to avoid the danger of myopia during prolonged screen time. He emphasized that Honor’s approach is to limit AI operations involving personal data to the device, ensuring that the user’s data is secure and private. Unlike cloud-based AI, which Zhao acknowledged for its growing potential, Honor recommends on-device AI for enhancing user interaction and support. This strategy, Zhao explained, not only increases customer empowerment, but also addresses data security concerns when transferring data to the cloud.

Looking ahead, Zhao highlighted the challenges of balancing AI power with energy efficiency and data privacy, calling it a "big challenge" for manufacturers. He underscored that Honor is committed to building a future where technology empowers individuals rather than overpowering them. Honor's latest developments include the award-winning Magic V2 folding phone and the upcoming Magic V3, set to be released in July with advanced AI features.
