BYD Overseas Sales could cross 2.5 million vehicles in 2027 as the company looks abroad while a price war puts pressure on profits in China.

BYD Overseas Sales are set to become a much bigger part of the automaker’s growth plans. The company expects to sell more than 2.5 million vehicles overseas in 2027 as a fierce price war puts pressure on profits in China.
The company has also raised its 2026 overseas sales target to between 1.9 million and 2 million vehicles. That is a sharp increase from its earlier goal of 1.5 million, according to Deutsche Bank Research. The figures were based on an investor briefing held Monday.
Why is BYD raising its overseas target so quickly?
China's car market has become increasingly tough for manufacturers. Companies are cutting prices to win buyers and hold on to market share. While lower prices can help sales, they can also squeeze profits.
That makes overseas markets more important for BYD. The company has been pushing into international markets with both electric and hybrid models. A stronger presence outside China could give the automaker more room to grow.
But higher sales alone will not tell the whole story.
Can BYD sell more cars abroad without giving up too much profit?
Selling vehicles in other countries brings its own problems. BYD has to deal with local regulations, tariffs and established car brands. Consumer demand can also vary widely from one market to another.
Still, the jump in its 2026 target shows that the company expects strong demand outside China. Its plans for BYD Global Sales suggest that international markets are becoming a much bigger part of its business.
Is this a growth plan or a way to escape China's price pressure?
It could be both. BYD has built a large customer base in China, but the price battle makes it harder for automakers to grow without hurting margins. Overseas sales give the company another route.
The next two years will show whether that strategy works. If BYD EV Sales continue to climb overseas, the company could reduce its dependence on China. If costs and pricing pressure eat into those gains, the bigger sales numbers may not mean bigger profits.
Business Honor examines that BYD wants its next chapter of growth to come from outside China. BYD Overseas Sales may soon become just as important to the company as its position in its home market.
