Three people were killed and four others injured after a shooting broke out during the Bite of Seattle food festival on Sunday evening, triggering a large emergency response and a continuing police investigation. The incident is expected to revive debate on public event security in the United States as law enforcers continue with investigations to uncover the truth behind the killings.

It happened at the Seattle Center as part of the yearly Bite of Seattle festival, where various food sellers join the event together with live entertainment. Officials said the tragedy highlights growing concerns about mass shooting incidents at public festivals, with law enforcement continuing efforts to identify everyone involved.

As per the Seattle Fire Department, the emergency team received calls regarding the gunshots and arrived there by 6:02 p.m. The police reported that upon arrival, they found two people exchanging fire. One suspect has been arrested, and another person who is a part of the shooting has managed to escape.

The first responders tried saving the lives of two victims, who unfortunately died at the crime scene. Another victim succumbed to death while being shifted to the hospital. Harborview Medical Center has stated that one more victim has undergone surgery and is currently in a critical condition.

Another three victims, including one child boy, one 23-year-old male, and one 39-year-old female, are in stable condition. One 40-year-old female victim with mild injuries refused to go to the hospital. Katie Wilson, Seattle’s mayor, referred to the shooting as "an act of horrific violence" and expressed sympathy with the families of the victims, adding that such events should not happen in the city.

In the aftermath of the attack, two guns were found by the investigators. It was reported that there were no surveillance cameras that could record what had happened in the vicinity of the shooting, and authorities are looking for witnesses and camera recordings from the citizens.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), as well as the FBI, are aiding the police in their investigations as officials continue gathering evidence to determine the motive behind the attack.
