US-Iran Peace Deal: Temporary Calm or another Crisis Waiting?

The US-Iran Peace Deal brings a temporary pause in fighting, but unresolved nuclear issues and regional tensions threaten long-term stability.

The US-Iran Peace Deal is an indication of a ceasefire in the Middle East; however, there are concerns about whether this agreement will bring stability to the region. Even though this agreement implies an extension of the ceasefire and opening of the Strait of Hormuz, some contradictions persist between the countries.

This agreement gives hope for the reduction of tension in the region; however, the US Iran nuclear agreement challenges make the future of the peace process uncertain because this agreement does not imply the immediate resolution of the problem of Iran's nuclear capabilities of Iran, sanctions, and political confrontation. The recent event emphasizes the fragility of the Middle East peace deal negotiations, as global leaders welcome this ceasefire agreement and say that further steps will decide its success or failure.

According to U.S. President Donald Trump, if the peace process fails, it will be possible to resume military operations because of the existing tensions between the two sides. In addition, it is worth mentioning that the memorandum of understanding envisages the extension of the ceasefire and opening of 60 days of negotiations.

One of the crucial terms of the agreement is about reopening the Strait of Hormuz, which is regarded as one of the world's main energy channels. This decision will enable the resumption of some of the Iranian oil shipments, but the impact on the market is likely to depend on the current state of affairs in the global energy market.

Moreover, the agreement suggests establishing a reconstruction and development fund worth $300 billion in order to promote economic collaboration. While the proponents think that common financial interest might help both parties to move forward, skeptics doubt whether economic interests would be enough for solving long-term political conflicts.

The current agreement seems to be a good example of the phased approach used in many of the ceasefire agreements in this region when immediate conflict resolution was reached, but there were many unresolved political questions left. For Iran, international investments could bring much economic profit after many years of being isolated from the international community. For the US and its allies, the agreement will decrease the level of instability in this region.

Nevertheless, the success of the US-Iran Peace Deal is conditional on the ability of both parties to progress from their cooperation and to find a lasting solution. Given that there is only a narrow window of opportunity for negotiations, the next few months will show whether the deal is a breakthrough or just another lull. Business Honor observes that the US-Iran Peace Deal shows how diplomacy and economic incentives can reshape global markets, but long-term success depends on trust and stability.
