Etihad Airways doubles Chicago flights and launches daily Charlotte service with Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners from June 15, strengthening North American connectivity.
Etihad Airways is planning to increase its presence in the United States market by adding more Boeing 787 Dreamliners to its two core routes beginning June 15, 2026. It will add more flights to Chicago O'Hare International Airport and offer daily services to Charlotte Douglas International Airport, thereby facilitating connections between North American cities and Asia-Pacific markets via its hub in Abu Dhabi.
Etihad Airways plans to deploy two flights a day between Abu Dhabi and Chicago utilizing Boeing 787-9 planes that can accommodate 32 Business Class passengers and 271 Economy passengers. Its current plan of flying four times a week to Charlotte will be increased to daily operations due to high traffic. The move will enable Etihad Airways to connect passengers to other important cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Bangkok, and Kuala Lumpur, thus making Etihad Airways an essential link between North American and Indian cities.
In this regard, Etihad’s schedule becomes more effective, providing the airline with an efficient connecting hub from which passengers can easily travel across continents. Passengers will have a choice of different times for flight departures and connect easily within the rest of the U.S. domestic network. Moreover, the aircraft’s cargo capacity further ensures the economical nature of these long-haul flights.
Business Honor views that the progressive deployment of capacity by Etihad on these flights shows the airline's gradual growth strategy by selecting routes that have proven profitable. The airline's confidence in the American market is seen through this increase in capacity for flights.
