Apple Siri Launch: Engineers Head to AI Coding Bootcamp Before WWDC 2026

Apple sends dozens of Siri engineers to intensive AI training just weeks before major voice assistant revamp at WWDC 2026.

Apple is sending less than 200 Siri developers to an intensive AI coding training camp prior to the upcoming Apple Siri release slated to be introduced on June 8 at WWDC 2026. This comes amidst rising urgency to update the process of programming with AI coding software such as Claude Code.

While most Siri engineers attend bootcamp training, approximately 60 will remain as the core development team, with another 60 focusing on performance evaluation and safety standards. This allocation demonstrates how critical this training is for meeting Apple's deadline. The bootcamp specifically targets AI-powered voice assistant development, ensuring engineers master tools already standard across the tech industry.

The latest Siri release by Apple is its third effort at offering an enhanced version of the voice assistant. Following a pledge of providing an intelligent version of Siri powered by artificial intelligence in June 2024, the release was delayed from the early part of 2025 to spring 2026. The earlier development team was plagued by problems such as query timeouts and incorrect answers.

Apple's collaboration with Google for several years, announced in January 2026 to cost around $1 billion each year, will fuel future Siri releases with the help of Gemini models.

Business Honor notes that the bootcamp marks critical preparation for the Apple Siri launch, aiming to deliver a chatbot-like voice assistant handling multi-step commands. Success depends on engineers rapidly adopting modern AI development practices to meet fall iOS 27 release expectations.
