Sony Honda Afeela 1 Electric Sedan Debuts with Premium Features

Afeela 1 features all-wheel drive, sleek design, and luxury, priced from $89,900.

In January, Sony Honda Mobility (SHM) displayed the production version of its electric Afeela 1 sedan at the Consumer Electronics Show. Although Sony refers to it as a sedan, the Afeela 1 is actually a roomy hatchback with a trunk capacity of 27 cubic feet. SHM claims that the production Afeela 1 is a little more oval-shaped than the prototype they crept around in 2023.

The Afeela 1 has a longer wheelbase than a Lucid Air, but it is about 3 inches shorter. The Afeela has a big-car presence and an expensive feel, much like the Lucid, which is the size of an Accord. The handle-free power door closes when the brake is applied and opens when the driver gets closer.

The Afeela 1 will have two 180-kW motors, one on each axle, and be all-wheel drive. The straight math shows that each of them has 241 horsepower, but the actual horsepower and torque numbers will rely on how quickly power can be drawn from the battery. Since no weight estimate has been made public, it is unable to determine its acceleration. When it comes to a stoplight, the Afeela 1 has a reasonable chance of outpacing a Mitsubishi Mirage.

Delivery of the premium Signature models of the Afeela 1 cars, which retailed for $102,900, is expected in mid-2026. The Afeela 1 Signature will be available in three exterior and two interior colors. Origin, a second trim level, will retail for $89,900 when it goes on sale in 2027. Only black paint and black interior will be available for the Origin. The Afeela 1 will be manufactured at Honda's Marysville, Ohio, facility in the United States.
