Feadship's 79.9-Meter Faith Yacht Heads for Sea Trials

Feadship’s 79.9-meter Faith superyacht heads for sea trials, showcasing innovative design and efficiency.

Feadship's 79.9-meter superyacht, Faith (Project 714), has been spotted on its way to the North Sea, where it will start sea trials before final outfitting prior to its expected delivery later this year. The new Faith is the replacement for the 96.6-meter Faith (now Sophia), one of the Dutch yard's most legendary launches, and promises to shake things up in the world of luxury yachts.

While details of the new construction have been under wraps ever since it started being built in 2021, some of the most essential information has been made known. The exterior design has been done by British design studio RWD, while the naval architecture has been by Feadship De Voogt. The superyacht features stylish Feadship lines such as a discreet clipper bow and large on-deck areas. Characteristically, the yacht boasts a blue and white theme that is also present in Feadship's 75.8-meter One, thereby setting it apart in the fleet of luxury yachts.

One of the most distinctive aspects of the Faith (Project 714) is its diesel-electric power system, shared with the 84.2-meter Obsidian. This system provides 4.5 times the electrical storage capacity of Feadship's initial hybrid yacht, Savannah. The propulsion system is driven by two contra-rotating thrusters, which obviate the use of conventional drive shafts and rudders. This new technology minimizes drag and maximizes efficiency, making Faith a more environmentally friendly and high-performance boat.

The latest yacht measures a beam of 13.6 meters, approximately 2,500 GT, and a draught of 3.9 meters. At present, Feadship currently has 18 yachts under construction, of which are the 101.2-meter Project 1014 and the recently delivered 101-meter Moonrise (Project 1013), further consolidating the reputation of the shipyard for crafting world-class superyachts.
