UP improves healthcare with improved services, telemedicine, emergency ambulances, and better maternity care for both urban and rural residents.
A number of reforms in healthcare services were introduced by the UP government in order to support both the urban and rural residents. This reform aims to expand, modernize and improve the efficiency of healthcare services. According to a government spokesperson, these changes suggest that the state government is more dedicated towards a people-centric healthcare system, offering services ranging from free dialysis to emergency ambulance support and from safe delivery services to telemedicine.
He also added that “in the Prayagraj division, 19 community healthcare centers have been selected as the first referral units as part of the National Rural Health Mission, allowing procedures like cesarean deliveries to be conducted near rural populations.” In comparison to the last year, safe and well assisted 1,569 cesarean deliveries were carried out this year, with 428 deliveries performed in Pratapgarh, 689 in Prayagraj, 167 in Fatehpur, and 285 in Kaushambi. This suggests that even in communities with limited resources, the deliveries are being managed carefully, and women are receiving good maternity care.
In addition, officials said that people in remote places benefit greatly from telemedicine services offered by the e-Sanjeevani platform. Online healthcare services were provided to 56,423 people in the Prayagraj division in the last month alone. Of these, 10,899 came from Kaushambi, 10,660 from Pratapgarh, 9,977 from Fatehpur, and 28,303 from Prayagraj district. The service, which includes 1,007 community health officers and 1,113 telemedicine centers, has proven especially useful for elderly people and those with disabilities.
Patients can interact with doctors with video calls using the e-Sanjeevani app, which reduces the need for travel and reduces traffic in large hospitals. Emergency medical services have also improved in the Gorakhpur district with 50 ambulances under the 102 service and 46 under the 108 service. This ensures that patients get quick medical support in any emergency.
