The Pilates Visionary Reshaping Latin America's Wellness Landscape: How Angela Yulima Lopez Guarin Is Merging Precision Movement with Global Brand Strategy

-Anna Keller

She's the Colombian powerhouse turning Pilates precision into a multi-million-dollar empire—and she's just getting started.

From the gritty challenges of reality TV's Desafío The Box to commanding boardrooms and expo stages across Latin America, Angela Yulima Lopez Guarin isn't merely participating in the booming wellness industry—she's aggressively reshaping it. She has developed a unique Pilates-based therapeutic system she has developed, integrating precision movement, injury prevention, and performance-based training into a structured methodology applied across both individual and large-scale wellness environments.

With her razor-sharp strategic mind and unshakeable passion for controlled, intentional movement, this certified Pilates expert (Reformer and Mat) has spearheaded the explosive expansion of international wellness brand Simply USA into Colombia, Mexico, Brazil, and far beyond.

But Angela isn't content with corporate conquests. She's quietly building her own Pilates dynasty—complete with professional accessories, a dedicated studio on the horizon, and a vision that's already inspiring thousands.

In an era of fleeting fitness fads, she's proving that true transformation comes from merging technical mastery with smart, scalable brand strategy.

Angela is also a smart business strategist who transforms how people and wellness brands connect across Latin America, inspiring others to see wellness as a force for positive community change: “It inspires me to see how well-being can generate positive changes for individuals and entire communities,” she says.

She views movement as a combination of physical training and a vehicle for cultural change in the realm of wellness. “When movement and healthy habits are communicated authentically,” she explains, “they can influence how people relate to their health and build more conscious lifestyles.”

Angela did her advanced training with Pilates Pro Colombia, and earned certifications in both Reformer and Mat instruction. The discipline’s emphasis on neuromuscular control, precision, and injury prevention became the foundation of her approach to movement education. Building on this foundation, she then went on to develop a structured therapeutic movement methodology. The system adapts Pilates principles into personalized and scalable training systems.

Angela says: “One of the biggest challenges in Pilates is guiding people to achieve true neuromuscular control. The movements require precision, balance, and proper technique—and that requires highly qualified instruction,” she explains.

For Angela, Pilates is a form of movement education. For her, the method “not only strengthens the body but teaches people how to move better and take care of their health in the long term.” That philosophy would eventually shape the way she approaches wellness leadership and brand strategy.

Angela has been a freelance Pilates instructor in Colombia since 2023. Years of working in the industry helped her notice a common problem regarding the rampant generic training systems: “One of the biggest frustrations people have is the lack of truly personalized programs. Many clients have shared their frustration with generic training systems that ignored individual biomechanics or daily lifestyle demands,” she shares.

She emphasizes how many training approaches just don’t consider how each person moves or lives. In response to these gaps, she created a personalized training framework that integrates biomechanics, posture correction, and progressive movement sequencing into her broader system.

As Angela’s Pilates career took off, she started applying her system with clients from all walks of life. Over time, she noticed that her approach was perfect for helping people combat the stiffness and movement problems that come with daily routines: “I created this therapeutic recovery method specifically for people struggling with postural problems, muscle imbalances, physical recovery needs, or the strain of sedentary and highly demanding lifestyles,” Angela explains.

Many of the individuals who seek her expertise fall within these categories. Some are professionals with sedentary routines who experience postural strain from long hours of desk work. Others are active individuals or athletes recovering from physical stress or imbalance: “A lot of my clients are between 25 and 45 and lead very active or stressful lives. They are looking for programs that help them maintain strength, mobility, and balance between health and work,” she shares.

Through her Pilates-based therapeutic system, Angela helps clients tackle posture issues, muscle imbalances, and inefficient movement while guiding them toward habits that actually stick: “The results I consistently see from the approach I developed include dramatically improved mobility and stability, reduced physical discomfort, greater body control, effective injury prevention, and noticeably enhanced physical performance,” she shares.

Moreover, she believes that the deeper impact is in the behavioral and educational changes that occur during the process. Angela believes the goal is to correct movement long term, as well as empower individuals to maintain healthy habits on their own.

She says: “The greatest impact of the method I created is that people don’t just feel better temporarily — they actually learn to move better and maintain that well-being for the rest of their lives.”

This philosophy shapes the way she structures every program: “I created this Pilates-based recovery system so clients leave not just feeling better, but with the know-how to prevent future issues and keep improving on their own,” she adds.

Because of her approach, many clients begin to see their bodies differently. Exercise stops being just a routine—they begin to see movement as a way to support long-term well-being: “Through the therapeutic recovery approach I developed, people experience not only physical improvements but a profound shift in body awareness and long-term wellness that traditional training rarely achieves,” Angela says.

Her methodology also emphasizes sustainability. She believes real recovery and strength go way beyond quick fixes, which is why her focus is on building movement awareness and long-term results. While most fitness programs focus on looks and visible results, Angela’s programs are designed for better long-term movement.

She says: “I focus on movement patterns that translate into everyday life, and the improvements achieved during training become part of my client’s daily routine.”

She adds: “The method I have created delivers sustainable movement patterns, and my clients can apply these into their daily routines and physical activities. This is why the impact extends far beyond the studio.”

Angela says the most fulfilling part of her work is seeing real, lasting change in her clients: “Since I created this recovery method, I’ve seen people completely change how they relate to their bodies, turning every session into a stepping stone for strength and confidence that lasts a lifetime,” she shares.

However, when she shares her long-term perspective, she reveals she has a broader mission behind her work in the wellness industry.

Angela says: “I’m proud to have created a Pilates-based method that bridges clinical precision with real-world results, positioning my work as an extraordinary contribution to movement education and recovery worldwide.”

Angela soon realized that she could use her expertise to transform the wellness industry. This realization drove her to the strategic side of the field. With that, she combined movement education with marketing and community building, fostering genuine connections that inspire trust and admiration: “The wellness industry is evolving, and this shift is very apparent in the trend in recent years. People nowadays no longer look for products. What they want are authentic experiences and a sense of connectedness. They also want to be educated,” she explains.

Building on this vision, Angela has been at the forefront of Simply USA’s expansion in Latin America since 2023, working as the Community & Market Development Coordinator. She develops wellness-focused marketing strategies, strengthens partnerships with regional distributors, and grows a network of brand ambassadors.

Her contributions helped Simply USA expand into major wellness markets, including Colombia, Mexico, and Brazil. Such areas are known for having high demands for functional training equipment and education-driven fitness programs.

However, Angela’s role encompasses a lot more than just traditional marketing. She has helped shape the cultural strategy behind how the brand enters new territories and establishes credibility within professional fitness communities. Her position requires balancing two worlds: technical wellness education and large-scale brand strategy.

In this capacity, she applies a strategic wellness framework she has developed, aligning movement education, community-building systems, and brand positioning into a scalable model for market expansion.

One of her major contributions is tailoring Simply’s brand for local markets. It keeps the global brand consistent while still connecting with each community: “Health looks different everywhere, and for a program to succeed, it has to meet people where they are,” Angela says.

Through focused initiatives and partnerships, she’s helped Simply grow across the region while building stronger connections with local fitness professionals and wellness communities.

As she puts it, “Nowadays, brands are not only promoting products. They build communities and create wellness experiences so that people can truly connect with the brand.”

Also central to her strategy is the development of ambassador programs that transform instructors and fitness professionals into educators and community leaders. These ambassador networks allow the brand to scale its educational mission while strengthening relationships within regional fitness communities.

Her programs reflect an extension of the system she has developed, enabling the replication of her methodology through trained educators and community leaders.

She says: “A lot of what I do is guide people so they can eventually teach others too. When knowledge spreads that way, it helps build stronger communities and deeper learning.”

Angela’s work has her leading the way at major international wellness events. She’s represented Simply in Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, and Dubai, doing product demos, movement workshops, and educational sessions on Pilates training and recovery.

The fact she has been involved in such large-scale implementations, demonstrates how her methodology which she has developed can be applied across international markets, as well as be adapted to different audiences while maintaining technical consistency.

Through these events, she shows advocates that wellness products can fit into real training routines: “Thanks to these events, projects, and brand collaborations, we’re able to show that movement and healthy habits are really part of a bigger culture of health,” she shares.

Her presence in these high-profile industry spaces has not gone unnoticed. Stephania Andrade Jiménez, LATAM Regional Development Manager for RAW Nutrition and a brand and event strategist in the supplement industry, first worked alongside Angela during major international fitness expos in Mexico and Colombia.

Andrade has collaborated with her directly, and as a result witnessed Angela’s exceptional technical knowledge and communication skills even during high-pressure trade shows: “When Angela represented the brand at our booth, she went beyond simply presenting products. She educated everyone who stopped by. She explains things like supplementation, wellness routines, and training in a way that’s easy to follow, all while drawing people in with her charm and professionalism,” Andrade recalls.

Andrade also praises Angela for her rare combination of wellness expertise and marketing instinct. “She handles customer questions, demos, and brand messaging with ease. What amazes me is how she has the technical knowledge and the leadership skills, all while effortlessly connecting with the audience,” he shares.

Angela’s influence doesn’t stop at physical events and studios; she brings her system online, too. With over 258,000 followers on her Instagram account @taticaguarin_, where she shares Pilates moves, wellness tips, and lifestyle content.

She sees the digital platforms function as an extension of the movement system she has developed: “It allows me to scale education and apply my methodology to a broader global audience,” she says.

“By combining training, social media, and events, we can help people understand their bodies and create a stronger, healthier connection with movement.”

Angela believes digital platforms can bridge education and accessibility: “Movement education shouldn’t just be limited in studios,” she says.

“When we share knowledge online, more people can get the knowledge they need to take care of their bodies and build healthier habits.”

Angela’s impact in both digital wellness education and sports nutrition content has been recognized by industry veterans. These include Joseph Volgey, who is President of TeamWERQ Media + Consulting.

Joseph first met Angela in 2023 at the ICONO Awards in Medellín. He was impressed by her expertise and presence, and later collaborated with her on sports nutrition content projects for his company: “Angela is one of the most versatile professionals I’ve met,” he says.

“She knows everything about supplementation, nutrition, and training, and her on-camera charisma makes it easy for audiences to connect with her right away,” he shares.

Their collaboration eventually grew into a close professional partnership when Volgey asked Angela to design a nutrition system to support his demanding entrepreneurial lifestyle.

Joseph recalls: “For nine months, she crafted a macro-based meal plan and prepared performance-focused meals several days a week.”

The results spoke for themselves. He adds: “Angela built an entire performance system around my goals. From introducing functional foods to optimizing my nutrition, she helped me balance business, training, and health. I lost nearly 30 pounds while maintaining a high-performance routine. That kind of expertise and dedication is rare.”

While she continues to expand international wellness brands, Angela is also channeling her expertise into her own entrepreneurial venture.

She is currently developing a Pilates brand that will include professional-grade accessories as well as a future studio environment designed to deliver spe

cialized instruction and community-focused wellness programs.

Her idea grew from the desire to create educational spaces centered on movement awareness.

She says: “I enjoy creating environments where people don’t just train, but also learn to understand their bodies and develop healthier movement habits.”

Angela envisions the project as more than a traditional studio—it will function as an integrated wellness platform combining equipment, education, and community programming.

This venture represents the formal expansion of the system she has developed into a scalable ecosystem that integrates training, education, and w

ellness product development.

With her impact and contributions in the field, recognition and awards naturally follow. She was nominated for Best Micro-Influencer Revelation of the Year in 2022 and 2023, and her growing platform continues to spark conversations about movement education and sustainable wellness practices.

At major events like Expofitness—one of Latin America’s largest sports and wellness expos—Angela has led massive Pilates sessions as part of the official Wellness Team. This proves her influence across the regional fitness community.

Through every project, every class, and every initiative, Angela is guided by a simple philosophy: wellness is more than a routine; it’s a lifestyle that transforms both body and mind: “Movement is a powerful tool that improves quality of life,” she says. “My goal is for people to understand that exercise builds a solid, reliable foundation for the long term.”

For Angela, wellness is a mindset: “My approach is unique because I connect well-being, movement education, and the fitness industry in a single model. Today, brands have to build communities and create authentic wellness experiences.”

“Through education and genuine practices, we contribute to a more conscious, responsible wellness culture that truly benefits people and drives positive, long-term growth in the sector,” she adds.

From teaching at international expos to building her own Pilates ecosystem, Angela is changing the way wellness brands grow and connect across Latin America. With her technical expertise and strategic vision, Angela is undeniably part of a new generation of leaders proving that true wellness is lasting, meaningful, and transformative.
