Andhra Pradesh presents its idealistic smart city inventions at Barcelona’s global stage, importance sustainable, digital urban transformation.
From November 4–6, 2025, Andhra Pradesh will present its advancements in smart cities at the 14th Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC-2025) in Barcelona, Spain. The event will bring together experts and delegates from more than 850 cities in 130 countries, with an importance on Smart City solutions supported by AI.
A team with three people will be led by S. Suresh Kumar, Principal Secretary of the Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD) Department who will speak on behalf of India. Commissioners Narapureddy Maurya of the Tirupati Municipal Corporation and Ketan Garg of the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) will make up the team.
Andhra Pradesh has applied inventive urban development initiatives that support technology, sustainability, and citizen welfare under Suresh Kumar's direction. The state has become recognized throughout the world for its achievements in digital government, reasonable housing and urban planning.
Two of AP's top smart cities, Visakhapatnam and Tirupati, will focus their inventions in infrastructure, technology, and the environment during the expo. In order to improve public services, waste management, green mobility and urban living standards, these cities have involved digital tools. Suresh Kumar claims that the Barcelona platform offers a chance to introduce new ideas to Indian towns and learn from international best practices. Additionally, he had an important influence on the development of India's Smart Cities Mission which was started in 2015 with the goal of reforming urban management.
The AP delegation will take part in four relevant international events in addition to the SCEWC namely, the Barcelona Deep Tech Summit, the Mobility World Congress, the Building World Congress and the Blue Economy World Congress. The purpose of these sessions is to promote international relationships and explore urban technologies that are prepared for Andhra Pradesh's sustainable development in the future.
