Google rewards $30,000 for users who find AI security bugs in Gemini, Search, Gmail, and Drive products.
Google has launched a new program called "Bug Hunters" to encourage users to find and report issues with its artificial intelligence products. Valid bug reports can earn up to $20,000 in prizes from the corporation, with a bonus of up to $10,000 for highly detailed and unique findings. This suggests a single report could result in up to $30,000. Google's major AI-powered services, like Gemini, Google Search, Gmail, and Drive, are included in the program. On Google's official page, whoever wants to help can report bugs. Along with that, Google pointed out that all problems are not qualified for rewards. Issues like copyright violation, incorrect content, or AI hallucinations (where AI creates false facts) won't be paid for because they can be reported using other linked mechanisms.
Clear guidelines regarding the types of bugs that qualify were shared by Google. The most significant of them are "Rogue Actions," which are assaults that risk the security of users' data or accounts by allowing unapproved changes. Bugs that cause sensitive data leakage, or the leak of private data like addresses, bank account information, or medical records, follow next. Phishing Integration, where hackers could add unwanted software to fool users into revealing private information, is the third priority.
Model Theft, that refers to the loss of private information about Google's artificial intelligence system, is another important category. Other kinds include Context Fraud, Access Control Bypass, and Unapproved Product Usage, along with Cross-user Denial of Service. Previously Google paid experts up to $430,000 to find weaknesses. This suggests Google's dedication to protect and safeguard its AI. With the aim to increase the confidence and trustworthiness of its AI products.
