New feature enables instant, private message translation on iOS and Android devices.
WhatsApp, which is owned by Meta, has released a long-awaited in-app message translation feature designed to help users communicate seamlessly across multiple languages. Currently available on both iOS and Android, users worldwide will be able to communicate mSore easily without the need for third-party translation apps during one-on-one chats, group discussions, and even channel updates. The translation application is very convenient to use. Just select your preferred language by long-pressing a message in a foreign language, then tapping the "Translate" option. The translation will be available immediately after downloading, facilitating smoother and effective communication. Android users will also receive an automatic translation feature, where complete chat threads are translated live, allowing ongoing conversations to be free from communication barriers.
Although Android users can initially do translations in six languages—English, Spanish, Hindi, Portuguese, Russian, and Arabic—the iOS app has a wider option of more than 19 languages. These include popular languages like French, German, Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, and numerous others at your fingertips. WhatsApp has prioritized privacy in bringing this feature out. WhatsApp never reads or sees any of the translated text, because all translation works are completed on the user’s device. WhatsApp's commitment to end-to-end encryption, which ensures safe and secure conversations, is consistent with this on-device translation. This feature is rolling out incrementally and will be live across 180 countries. People are asked to keep their WhatsApp apps up to date to be able to access the feature when it goes live. Although the translation tool is right now only available on mobile platforms, nothing has been announced yet about when it will roll out to WhatsApp Web or Windows.
