Alconost Company’s human translation service, NitroTranslate, has reached a historic event by becoming the first and only platform that accepts payments by autonomous AI agents. The achievement has been made possible due to the newly developed Machine Payments Protocol, which is an emerging standard enabling AI systems to order services independently without human mediation.

This implementation brings great changes to AI agents’ relationships with different professional service companies. In the past, AI agents used to face a serious problem in translation tasks because they were not able to make transactions independently. These AI agents had to pass control over transactions to human beings to create accounts, generate API keys, and make prepaid payments.

The new workflow fundamentally streamlines this process. When an AI agent requires translation services, it submits a request to the NitroTranslate API without requiring authentication. The API responds with an HTTP 402 Payment Required status—a response code redesignated as a payment step rather than an error condition. The agent then obtains a payment credential from any MPP-compatible provider and resubmits the identical request using that credential. Crucially, each credential authorizes exactly one transaction, eliminating the security risks associated with stored API keys, credential rotation requirements, or potential overcharging scenarios.

Once payment is confirmed, translation orders proceed directly into production. Agents monitor order status through periodic polling and receive publication-ready translations typically within two to twenty-four hours. Native-speaking professionals perform translations across eighty-plus languages, with markup languages including HTML, JSON, XML, and iOS strings preserved throughout the process.

Currently, MPP payments support US-issued credit cards exclusively. However, the conventional API-key authentication method remains available globally for users outside the United States, ensuring continued service accessibility across international markets.
