Choithrams and WFP boost school meal programmes to fight hunger across the Middle East.
Choithrams, a famous food retailer, has once again teamed up with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) to relaunch their “End Hunger with Goodness” campaign. This initiative is running from September to December 2025 that focuses on tackling food insecurity by supporting school meal programmes across the Middle East.
The campaign uses food for a powerful cause. Every purchase of specially labeled "Goodness Foods" items in Choithrams stores will contribute to the effort of raising the fund which will provide up to four school lunches to children in need. These meals are a component of WFP's larger initiatives that improve vulnerable children's health, education and nutrition, particularly in areas impacted by poverty and violence.
Through their assistance, Choithrams has given over 7 million meals since 2015 helping children in the area in receiving daily school meals. By providing food for hungry pupils, these lunches promote growth for long term and school attendance especially for girls who frequently come across educational difficulty.
Choithrams Chairman L.T. Pagarani shared that a simple school meal can lead to better futures by improving health and learning. The campaign also introduces a digital element this year where customers can track their impact through WFP’s ShareTheMeal app, making the act of giving more personal and transparent.
Food specialists like dietician Mitun De Sarkar and food blogger Suad Shamma (Lady Spatula) are using social media to share their experiences with WFP's school meal programs in an effort to raise awareness. People in the UAE are encouraged to join the fight against hunger by their tales. In addition to providing food for children, Choithrams and WFP are sowing the seeds of resilience, education, and hope.
