Australian firm strengthens global position as demand for counter-drone systems rapidly rises.
DroneShield, an Australia-based defense technology leader, achieved a remarkable milestone by selling 4,000 counter-drone systems worldwide. The company has recently won two separate contracts worth $7.9 million from the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) for handheld drone detection products. The repeat orders reflect DroneShield's increasing contribution to delivering mission-critical solutions to counter the emerging threat of drones on the battlefield and in civilian environments. The new contracts involve the provision of RfPatrol systems, passive and lightweight devices that detect drones in real-time. The RfPatrol is now standard equipment in most top-secret defense projects, such as those for the Australian Defense Force and the government of Ukraine. With the rising global demand for counter-drone solutions, DroneShield's systems are making a significant contribution to enhancing security and situational awareness.
DroneShield CEO Oleg Vornik reported that the company is seeing high demand, with third-quarter revenue for FY25 hitting $77 million. That growth is due to the universal demand for sophisticated counter-drone technology as governments and defense communities increase their counter-drone initiatives. The Australian supply chain of the company enables the production of these systems, and 85% of the components are drawn from Australian manufacturers. To address the growing demand, DroneShield has pledged to enhance its manufacturing and research capabilities with an investment of $13 million. The newly opened facility in Sydney in December will enhance production capacity, making DroneShield a leading supplier of counter-drone technology globally. With the rapidly growing global counter-drone market, DroneShield is well placed to continue its dominance in the defense technology industry, providing security and safety against the constantly emerging threat from drones.
