Functionize Inc. raised $41 million in Series B funding to expand its AI-powered test automation platform and scale global operations.
Functionize Inc., an AI-powered test automation software startup, raised $41 million in Series B funding to grow its industry-leading cloud platform. Mumford Investments and LHH Investments were the lead investors, with participation from the venture units of Canva Pty Ltd and Wipro Ltd.
Functionize's platform streamlines software testing through the application of artificial intelligence to create and maintain tests. Conventional testing is based on scripts, which are difficult to write and maintain—particularly where components of the software change frequently. Functionize addresses this issue by enabling developers to type in natural language descriptions of the tests they intend to conduct. The platform generates the equivalent test scripts automatically, eliminating up to 90% of the normal workload.
One of the most important innovations is the self-healing nature of the platform. When application components—like fields or buttons—are moved or changed, test scripts break. Functionize's artificial intelligence senses this change and remodels the scripts automatically, minimizing downtime and developer time. The platform will support testing from top to bottom of the software stack, including user interfaces, APIs, and backend databases. It will also simulate real-world conditions by pushing virtual machines around the world to detect localized performance issues.
Functionize’s tools further streamline quality assurance by generating sample input data for tests, eliminating the need for manual entry. Over the past year, the platform has powered more than a billion AI-generated tests for clients including GE Healthcare Technologies and ServiceNow. This investment will speed us on our path to fully autonomous, AI-based quality assurance," stated CEO Tamas Cser. The company intends to utilize the capital to add engineers and data scientists to its team while scaling its worldwide go-to-market strategy. Functionize is taking a leadership role at the intersection of smart software testing, transforming how contemporary development teams guarantee reliability and performance.
