Dancuart brings transformation expertise to guide Western's growth in insurance and investments.
The Western Investment Company of Canada Limited, or Western, has appointed Pablo Dancuart as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) effective August 7, 2025. Mr. Dancuart has more than 15 years of experience in the property and casualty insurance industry. He brings a solid track record of guiding finance teams through significant transformations, including the complete implementation of IFRS 17, the new international accounting standard for insurance contracts. Most recently, he was Vice President of Finance and Procurement at Gore Mutual Insurance Company, where he was a critical contributor to the modernization of the company. His work enabled the enhancement of operations, technology, people strategies, and support of high-growth initiatives.
Western CEO Paul Rivett said: "We are excited to welcome Pablo to our team with his background in implementing comprehensive transformational change, including in the area of IFRS 17. We think Pablo will be a hardworking team member and culture builder as we begin Western's next chapter as an insurance and investment holding company." Mr. Dancuart's appointment comes on the heels of the departure of present CFO Stacey Cross, who worked for the company with commitment for many years. She contributed significantly to assisting Western through a successful recapitalization last year. Ms. Cross will provide support to Mr. Dancuart during the transition process.
Part of his payment is 1,666,666 restricted share units (RSUs) priced at $0.60 per share. The RSUs will vest half within five years and the remaining half within ten years. The RSU grant is conditional upon TSXV approval, and the shares are anticipated to be acquired on the open market rather than issued from treasury. Mr. Dancuart's leadership will be able to contribute to Western's sustained development in the insurance and investment industry.
