PRA Group appoints Owen James as President of PRA Group Europe, emphasizing leadership continuity and global growth.
PRA Group, Inc., a worldwide leader in the acquisition and collection of nonperforming loans, announced that it has named Owen James President of PRA Group Europe. As President, James will be responsible for operations in, 15 European markets, Canada, and Australia, as well as leadership of portfolio investment initiatives and improving the profitability of the business.
James replaces Martin Sjolund, who becomes President and CEO of PRA Group, and will be directly reporting to him. The hiring reflects PRA Group's focus on continuity and experienced leadership as the company deepens its global reach.
With over 30 years of working experience in the financial industry, James possesses a great deal of operational experience as well as investment expertise. James joined the PRA Group in 2012 after the acquisition of Mackenzie Hall Holdings and held several important positions since then, most recently Global Investments Officer, where he was responsible for the company's global investment approach.
"I am pleased to be the president of PRA Group Europe and to expand the success of our European operations," James said. "I look forward to working with our senior leadership to execute our strategy and expand our presence in our priority markets."
Under James's leadership, PRA Group's European operations have recorded good performance, driving the company's overall performance. Since the past seven years, over $3 billion has been invested in European portfolios successfully, and the region has emerged as a growth driver of key importance.
Sjolund hailed James as the perfect heir, praising his "deep investment experience, strong operational know-how, and high regard within the global nonperforming loan industry."
James's appointment reflects PRA Group's determination to solidify its executive leadership and maintain long-term growth through seasoned and forward-looking management.
