SAP strengthens its investment in India as an AI hub, fueling innovation, growth, and global expansion.
The German corporate software giant SAP is expanding its footprint in India, an important growth region and a talent powerhouse, as multinational corporations challenge increasing supply chain and digital change problems.
Manish Prasad, President and Managing Director of SAP Indian Subcontinent, stated that India holds an essential position in SAP’s global AI and digital efforts. He noted that the country is not only among the company’s fastest-growing markets but also a major center for its AI development activities.
With a goal of 400 by the end of the year, SAP has already applied 210 AI use cases across a variety of industries worldwide. SAP Labs India, one of the company's biggest R&D facilities outside of its Walldorf, Germany headquarters, is largely responsible for this breakthrough. Joule, SAP's AI assistant, was also created in India to a great extent.
Although adoption differs by sector, Prasad decorated the increased interest in AI among Indian businesses. Manufacturers are concentrating on issues like quality control and predictive maintenance, while IT companies are at the forefront. He went on to say, "The question is not whether AI should be adopted, but how quickly it can start delivering value."
Regarding AI rules, Prasad celebrated India's organized approach which puts safety first without limiting creativity. Additionally, he repeated SAP's dedication to following to international data rules, particularly those in the EU. With a recent market valuation of $320 billion, SAP is now the most valuable corporation in Europe.
It exceeded forecasts with a 58% year-over-year increase in profits during the first quarter of 2025. Although precise income numbers were not disclosed, Prasad underlined India's importance in terms of talent, scale, and opportunity. SAP is further expanding its presence through the launch of a second campus in Bengaluru and continued planned hiring efforts.
