Expansion follows commitment to innovative, sustainable agri-solutions for farmers.
Coromandel International Ltd, a prominent player in the fertiliser sector and part of the Murugappa Group, has announced the doubling of its sulphur fertiliser production capacity with the opening of a second manufacturing plant in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. This expansion aims to enhance the steady supply of high-quality Bentonite Sulphur fertilisers to farmers across India.
The new plant will take the company's sulphur fertiliser manufacturing capacity to 50,000 metric tonnes. The Visakhapatnam location already has a large scale production unit that produces around 12 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) of complex fertilisers like Phosphoric and Sulphuric acid, as well as a 25,000 MT capacity sulphur fertiliser plant.
Sankarasubramanian, Managing Director and CEO of Coromandel International, stressed the organization's commitment to providing sustainable solutions to the agricultural industry. "At Coromandel, we are committed to providing innovative and sustainable agri-solutions to the farmers. With an increase in our infrastructure and production capacities, we are catering to the assured supply of fertilisers that not only enrich the soil health but also increase productivity," he said.
The new factory employs the latest German technology to enrich Sulphur fertilisers with necessary micronutrients, correcting deficiencies in the ground. The company is also committed to research and development of novel Sulphur forms that target particular crops and geographical requirements, maximizing the efficacy of fertilisation in various cultivation conditions.
This growth is a milestone for Coromandel International, allowing the company to satisfy the growing demand for Bentonite Sulphur fertilisers in India, as well as fitting into its long-term strategy of driving agricultural development through technology and farmer-oriented programs.
