Seminar in Sharjah focuses on enhancing quality assurance and accreditation in higher education.
Recently, a seminar was conducted at the Sharjah Education Academy, in collaboration with the Sharjah Private Education Authority and the British Quality Assurance Agency, titled "Enhancing Academic Excellence, Quality Assurance, and Accreditation in Higher Education." The aim of the seminar was to make students realize the quality standards for higher education by incorporating them with excellence in academics and international accreditation standards.
Khawla Al Hosani, the Deputy Director at the Sharjah Education Academy, emphasized that improving quality standards contributes to Sharjah's staying at the pinnacle both regionally and internationally as an educational hub. She stipulated that leadership plays a role in providing the educational environment with the requirements for innovation and sustainability in quality assurance. Al Hosani underscored the need to bring together entities from various segments of this system, such as educational institutions, government authorities, and accreditation bodies, to collaborate toward further elevating the quality of higher education.
Dr. Mohammed Yousef Bani Yas, Advisor for Higher Education Affairs at the Sharjah Private Education Authority, stated that the seminar focused on "the current educational trends towards international standards for better outcomes from higher education, and the tasks to be undertaken by universities in terms of aligning their academic programs with the demands of the job market and with proper preparation for careers for students.". This will ensure that graduates are adequately prepared with the skills and knowledge required to succeed in an increasingly competitive workforce.
This includes the clear career paths for students and universities enhancing the quality of education to meet labor market needs. The seminar intended to empower universities in the maintenance and accomplishment of world-class standards in education through quality assurance, accreditation, and continuous improvement of academic programs.
