National conference highlights GMP standards and quality assurance in pharmaceuticals.
A National Conference 'Enhancing Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance through Good Manufacturing Practices-GMP' was organized by the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India in collaboration with the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) and the Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA). The conference, held at the Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ), aimed to improve pharmaceutical quality assurance by reinforcing GMP standards across the industry.
The event witnessed around 150 delegates, representing pharmaceutical units in the Parawada and Atchuthapuram clusters, academicians, and experts from the industry. Dr. Jitendar Sharma, who is AMTZ's Managing Director and CEO, inaugurated the event and this set the tone for discussions that will shape the quality standards of the pharmaceutical sector in the future.
Under Secretary (Pharmaceutical Policy), Department of Pharmaceuticals, Dharmendra Kumar Yadav, outlined several initiatives from the government's side to overcome resource gaps and upgrade infrastructure in pharmaceutical manufacturing. The conference put a lot of emphasis on implementation of revised GMP guidelines along with WHO norms.
These seminars emphasized the implementation of harmonization of GMP standards to enhance regulatory compliance and quality of production of pharmaceutical products, as well as infrastructure enhancements to meet Schedule M norms with revised standards. M. Srinivas Rao, Drugs Inspector from Visakhapatnam, emphasized the equipment and facility improvement to meet revised standards.
Another was the introduction of the Revamped Pharmaceutical Technology Upgradation Assistance Scheme (RPTUAS) by Yaswanth Shinde of SIDBI to upgrade the facilities of manufacturers. A host of experts, including Nasir Jamal of PHDCCI and K. Bhuvaneswari of CDSCO, engaged in discussions aimed at improving regulatory compliance and quality assurance in the Indian pharmaceutical industry.
The conference served as an important venue for promoting inter-company cooperation toward upgrading the process of quality assurance and GMP standards.
