The course is meant to arm future leaders with strategic communication and reputation management skills.
The Public Relations Consultants Association of India (PRCAI) has partnered with the Indian Institute of Management, Udaipur (IIMU), to introduce a pioneering reputation management course. This is a big leap toward bridging academia and industry, equipping future business leaders with critical expertise in strategic communications. It will be an elective course at IIMU, with the focus on the drivers of corporate reputation and how it positions students for leadership roles where communication is pivotal.
Director, IIMU, Prof. Ashok Banerjee said about the new offering: "This course will equip students with a deep understanding of factors that impact corporate reputation thus preparing students for roles that effective communication is the key to success."
Nikhil Dey, National Chair of Talent & Academia, PRCAI, also spoke on growing importance of reputation management in an increasingly interconnected world. As businesses grapple with challenges such as fake news, misinformation, and the rise of AI, never has the need for reputation management and protection been more crucial for leaders, said Dey. He further added that the course will teach students the science and art of reputation management in navigating the VUCA world.
This initiative is based on findings from PRCAI’s 2024-25 SPRINT survey, to be launched in January, which reveals that 76% of respondents believe educational curricula need to evolve to address the changing demands of the PR industry. PR firms are increasingly expanding their recruitment focus, tapping into talent from marketing, advertising, and management institutes.
