Three UK Introduces New Tiered

Starting next month, new and upgraded mobile contracts will see annual price hikes determined by data allowance tiers

Three UK has announced a crucial restructuring to its mobile pricing strategy by launching a tiered system for annual contract price increases. The new method is aimed at improving clarity and compliance with Ofcom’s latest regulations on mid-contract price rises.

Starting next month, new and upgraded mobile contracts will see annual price hikes determined by data allowance tiers. Consumers with a data allowance of 4GB or less will face a £1 increase per month, while those with 5GB to 99GB will have a £1.25 rise. For contracts providing 100GB or more, the increase will be £1.50 per month. The shift comes in response to Ofcom's new guidelines, which mandate that price increases be clearly stated in “pounds and pence” at the point of sale, starting January. Three UK’s new pricing model, which will come into effect from April, aims to offer clarity and predictability for consumers in the face of cost pressures.

Chief Commercial Officer at Three UK, Elaine Carey, highlighted the company's dedication to lucid pricing. Carey stated that the company adequately reviews and revises its pricing to remain competitive and address cost pressures. She highlighted that Three UK has constantly ensured that annual price changes are clear and transparent for customers and added that the new model further reaffirms this commitment. In addition to mobile price changes, broadband increases will be charged £2, aligning with the new regulatory framework.
