Google has begun the widespread rollout of a redesigned Search bar widget on Android, simplifying customization options while introducing a new Dynamic Color feature. Initially introduced in 2018, the customizable Search bar allowed users to adjust various aspects, including the logo, shape, color, and shading. However, the latest update, now available in the stable channel with version 15.31, significantly limits these options.
The Google app settings now offer fewer options for the recently added "Customize Search widget" function. Users can now only select between Light and Dark backgrounds, with System set as the default. Unlike the previous version, which offered a variety of customization options for the bar logo and color, the redesign adheres more strictly to Google’s brand guidelines. The standard four-color design of the lens, microphone, and "G" icons is still in place, indicating a move toward consistency across various devices.
