Mama Money continues its innovative financial solution; this WhatsApp-linked card sets a standard specifically to address the needs of diverse and marginalized communities in South Africa and across the world.

Mama Money, a South African money transfer operator, in collaboration with Paymentology and Access Bank, introduced a ground-breaking innovation: a bank card connected to WhatsApp designed to make everyday transactions and international remittances. This service is aimed at addressing issues like proof of address and other documents and the challenges faced by migrants.

Mathieu Coquillon, Co-Founder of Mama Money, stated, "This initiative marks a significant milestone in financial inclusivity; it empowers migrant communities by providing essential financial services without the typical bureaucratic obstacles."

With the Mama Money Card, users can manage their finances directly through WhatsApp for a nominal monthly fee of R25. The card is available for R100. Features like international money transfers, buying electricity and airtime, viewing bank statements, checking balances, and account management are all accessible with the ease of a messaging app.

The initiatives to improve financial access were highlighted by Drisha Kirkman, Head of Programme Management and Sustainability at Paymentology, who stated, "In a nation where millions lack basic financial services, initiatives like the Mama Money Card play a crucial role in fostering economic inclusion."

In order to give users peace of mind, the card offers advanced security features, such as card freezing via WhatsApp in case of theft or loss. With a customer base that mainly consists of migrants from countries like Zimbabwe, Malawi, Ghana, Nigeria, and India, it aims to facilitate seamless financial transactions across over 70 countries worldwide.
