Apple Health is getting a major upgrade as Apple Watch adds deeper health tracking, while Apple Intelligence turns personal data into clearer daily insights.

Apple is expanding Apple Health with a bigger focus on daily health tracking, fitness data and long-term wellbeing. The company says Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 will bring its new Health Sensing System, while a redesigned Health App will use Apple Intelligence to make health data easier to understand.
The new watches will measure heart rate every five seconds throughout the day. Heart rate variability, or HRV, will also be measured as often as every five minutes. Apple says a study involving more than 1,000 people found its new heart rate sensing to be the most accurate among the wearables included in the study.
But does more health data really mean better health decisions?
One of the biggest additions is Readiness. The feature gives users a daily score from 0 to 10 based on activity, sleep and vital signs. It then suggests whether to recover, slow down or push ahead.
The redesigned Apple Health experience goes further. Its new Insights tab will pull together information on heart health, sleep, fitness, readiness and other data. Apple Intelligence will use that information to provide personalized suggestions.
The company is also adding a Longevity tab. It will show a new Health Age feature that compares selected health measures with a user's actual age. Data such as VO2 max, resting heart rate, sleep and HRV can be used in the analysis.
Could Apple Health become more than a tracking app?
Apple is also bringing movement assessments to the iPhone and Apple Watch. Users will be able to check flexibility, strength, balance, movement and VO2 max at home using the iPhone camera. Apple says the assessments run on the device and do not record or store video.
The Health App will also add support for perimenopause and menopause tracking. Users can log symptoms and cycle changes, while some people aged 40 and older may receive notifications about patterns that could suggest perimenopause.
Apple is clearly pushing Health Tracking deeper into everyday life. Business Honor asks Is Apple making health data more useful, or simply making people watch their numbers more closely?
The answer may depend on how users act on the information. Apple Watch and Apple Intelligence can organize the data, but the decisions still belong to the person wearing the watch.
