Apple may launch M5-powered iPad Pro, Vision Pro, and MacBook Pro via press releases, signaling faster performance and future-ready devices.
Apple is expected to announce many new products this week, following its recent practice of announcing hardware by press releases rather than a dedicated launch event. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the main focus of these improvements will be Apple's new M5 chip, which will power a number of products across the company's product line. At the forefront is an improved iPad Pro. While major appearance changes are doubtful, the tablet is expected to get internal upgrades like additional RAM and the new M5 processor. Resulting in improved efficiency and performance while maintaining the luxury design established in the previous version.
Apple's Vision Pro mixed-reality headset is also scheduled to receive an update. The change is going to be small, with the M5 chip providing quicker performance. There could possibly be a new R2 processor designed to increase input processing. Other likely additions include a new Space Black colorway and a more comfy head strap. Although Apple is apparently delaying plans for a cheaper and lighter Vision Pro, this upgrade suggests the company still wants to keep the device relevant as it explores future smart glasses.
A new 14-inch MacBook Pro powered by the M5 chip may also be introduced, though it's not certain that it will be available this week. If it does, it will probably appear quite similar to last year's model. According to Gurman, Apple can currently build a huge quantity of base M5 chips, with more powerful M5 Pro and M5 Max versions planned later, as well as higher-end MacBook Pro models. Apart from these launches, Apple's product roadmap remains busy. According to reports, new versions of the AirTag, HomePod mini, Apple TV, iPad, and iPad Air will be released, as well as two new external monitors. These products are expected to arrive within the next few months.
