Julius Berger adopts AI operations to improve project speed, accuracy, and innovation through its new "Construction Intelligence" approach.
Julius Berger Nigeria PLC is taking an important step into the next phase of construction by introducing artificial intelligence into every part of its business operations. Engr. Dr. Peer Lubasch, the business's managing director, announced the development of "Construction Intelligence" at the 2025 Luminary Soiree in Lagos. Highlighting how modern tools like generative design, collaborative platforms, and automated clash detection are already being used by PrimeTech, a design and engineering-centered Julius Berger division, to save planning times and improve the outcome of projects. "We aim to use AI to work faster and more accurately at each step, from concept to delivery," Lubasch stated.
Lubasch also highlighted the different uses of AI in Julius Berger's chain of value, like management of contracts, cost estimates, adaptive scheduling, maintenance planning, and real-time security tracking. According to Lubasch, the business is directly adopting the global AI development instead of only watching it. "In our labs and quality control, AI-driven tools allow us to make better choices, improve accuracy, and speed up evaluation," he stated.
Encouraging more collaboration while he visited a broad group of specialists from the fields of architecture, finance, and oil and gas. He stated, "You are collaborators in a shared journey of innovation, not just visitors today." Jurgen Willen, a Willen Associates architect and guest speaker, talked about how AI is helping his business's plans for the future. "Every project we create takes the future seriously, and AI provides us the confidence to innovate and change." Now that artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming the process that buildings are planned and constructed, Julius Berger is leading an innovation that will make construction not only faster and more intelligent but truly smart.
