WISeKey and EnduroSat partner to provide ultra-secure, quantum-resistant nanosatellite systems for IoT connectivity.
WISeKey, via its subsidiary WISeSat.Space, and EnduroSat, an innovator in modular satellite technology, have launched a groundbreaking partnership to provide ultra-secure, quantum-resistant nanosatellite systems for Internet of Things (IoT) use. The joint venture, concluded through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), is focused on embedding advanced security technologies within satellite infrastructure that provides tamper-proof communications and trusted IoT connectivity.
At the heart of this effort is the embedding of SEALSQ secure elements for example, the VaultIC292, VaultIC408, and QS7001—into satellite payloads and ground endpoints. These elements are powerful hardware-based security solutions that can support end-to-end encrypted communication and digital identity protection, which are necessary to protect sensitive IoT data. This will be essential for industries that need to base their operations on secure IoT networks, including logistics, defense, and environmental monitoring.
To future-proof the solution, the collaboration also aims to deploy post-quantum cryptography (PQC) algorithms such as CRYSTALS-Kyber and CRYSTALS-Dilithium, keeping up with NIST's security recommendations. This guarantees the system's resilience against the potential attacks of future quantum computing technologies, securing IoT applications in space over the long term.
With its expertise in modular satellite design and scalable deployment systems, EnduroSat will drive the integration of these secure elements into next-generation satellite buses. In its turn, WISeSat will be contributing PQC algorithmic stack and cryptographic know-how to ensure the highest possible levels of security and resiliency.
The two companies collectively will transform IoT connectivity through secure, tamper-proof services in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) that are critical for defense, critical infrastructure, and IoT-application purposes. The union is a move in the right direction towards offering highly secure, scalable IoT connectivity solutions, positioning the satellite industry to meet the rising demands of the quantum era.
